Drinking Water Purification Systems

There are, of course, many drinking water purification systems on the market. Most of them excel in removing one or two of the three types of contaminates. However, Kinetico removes all three.

Chlorine

City water is treated with high levels of chlorine which does a lot to keep illness down, but does little to, shall we say, improve the flavor or your drinking water. The first thing a quality drinking water purification system needs to do is remove the chlorine from the water. For that you need a high quality carbon filter like Kinetico’s MACguard filter. Remove Inorganic Contaminants

Drinking water purification systems with reverse osmosis remove all these inorganic contaminants all these contaminants and more. “Hard” water is forced through a semi-permeable membrane. The membrane allows molecules of water to pass through it. However, mineral molecules (any molecules larger than water in fact) cannot pass through and are left behind. What remains is water that is free of inorganic contaminants.

Don’t Forget Organic Contaminants

In addition to removing chlorine and inorganic materials, a quality drinking water purifications system also removes organic material. Bacteria and viruses are a major concern in drinking water. Reverse osmosis will remove any bacteria larger that water molecules, but many bacteria are smaller that water molecules and find their way through the semi-permeable membrane and viruses are smaller yet.
